AUSSIE BEEF IN ANTARCTICA


It turns out the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) can’t survive without their Australian beef!

There are 100 or so expeditioners, scientists, tradesmen & support personnel based at four stations across Antarctica. Most of these people work outdoors in extreme conditions & burn a lot of energy every day. As a result large quantities of high protein, Australian beef is an essential component of their diets. But beef is not only important in maintaining their health, it is also plays a vital role in maintaining good morale as most people associate beef with their ‘familiar’ aussie lifestyle back home. The kitchen staff at the stations also like to use beef because its very versatile & can be used to create home style meals during the week but also fancier offerings on the weekends.
