Kerwee Feedlot was recently awarded the 2011 Elanco Feedlot of the Year for the 3,000-10,000 SCU category. This competition is open to all feedlots across Australia and aims to measure a feedlots performance over and above the national standards. The assessment criteria involves areas such as environmental responsibility, staff retention, community involvement, innovation and supply chain management. Shell has been working at Kerwee Feedlot since January as their Project Coordinator. Matt also worked at Kerwee at the start of the year and now regularly buys cattle for the feedlot.
Kerwee is a family owned business located on the Darling Downs, QLD. The feedlot finishes both domestic and export cattle along with Wagyus. Kerwee has its own marketing division, Stockyard, which focuses on continually developing markets this grain fed beef.
2010 is the fifth time Kerwee has won the Feedlot of the Year competition for its category. Kerwee has also received a number of other awards this year for our beef including Grand Champion at the Sydney Royal Food & Wine Show and the Best Branded Beef Trophy at the Royal Brisbane Food & Wine Show.
