WHY EAT BEEF?

Although in our household we eat beef regularly we often forget how nutritious it actually is!

Red meat is the largest contributor of readily available iron and zinc in the Australian diet, and the second largest contributor of omega-3s. As part of a healthy, balanced diet, red meat can give your body what it needs for everyday activities, memory, attention and learning.

Specifically the 5 critical nutrients that red meat provides are...
  1. Iron - Critical for carrying oxygen in blood, needed by cells to make energy.
  2. Zinc - After iron, zinc is the second most concentrated mineral in your brain. It’s   involved in virtually every job that brain cells do.
  3. Omega-3s - These are the building blocks of your brain, giving shape and structure to its cell walls.
  4. Protein - Red meat is a significant source of high-quality protein, providing all the
    essential amino acids.
  5. Vitamin B12: A key ingredient in nerve fibres, helping them transmit their electrical signals ultra-quickly, so we can think fast.
This is why the Australian dietary guidelines recommend we enjoy lean red meat 3 to 4 times a week.

So enjoy red meat for dinner with your family tonight. It’s the smart way to feed your brain and of course it tastes delicious too!
