2010 definitely went out with a soggy ending! Everyone, including the cattle, are glad to see the water finally receding & the mud drying up. However we seem to have been left with a mass of mosquito's now so the aeroguard has been in hot demand!
But with rain comes feed so we won't complain! All of the cattle are looking great at the moment & for the first time ever I think our bulls weighed more when we took them out of the cows then when we put them in.
Although our property at Cassilis has had a lot of rain as well it has dried out much faster.
All of the dams at Cassilis are now full which is certainly a welcome sight, we won't have to worry about stock water for quite awhile now which will be a nice change from the last few years.
While some of our sorghum is suffering from waterlogging in patches the drier areas have been growing at a rapid rate. These photos were taken 16 days apart in December & really show how fast the crop is developing.
We have also been lucky enough to spot a few koalas lately, we usually only see them once in awhile so to see 3 over the last week has been a nice surprise!
